Ethernet

The aim of the development of Ethernet was the fast and local networking of software and/or hardware without delays and with low error rates. The most important specification is the IEE standard 802.3. It defines the mechanisms for data exchange between network participants and components. Ethernet has been the most commonly used LAN technology since the 1990s.

Due to the wired data network technology, communication takes place via the protocol of all devices connected in the network – even over long distances. The advantages of the standard are the very fast data transfer rates and the low cost of the modules. In the automotive sector, this ensures a smooth use for on-board diagnostics.
